The Company

Our client is a growing commercial landscape and civil construction company which is enjoying great success after being established 5 years ago.

With a history of delivering quality commercial landscape projects, they are looking to branch out into local council work; roadworks, drainage, footpaths, parks, and community infrastructure.

With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget, they are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Civil Estimator to join their team and help continue their success in serving local governments.

The Opportunity

The Civil Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for a variety of civil construction projects for local councils.

This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of civil construction processes, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and clients.

The ideal candidate will have experience in estimating for local council works and a solid grasp of council tender requirements and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimate Preparation: Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil projects including roadworks, drainage, footpaths, earthworks, and other local council infrastructure.
  • Tendering: Manage the end-to-end tender process, including reviewing tender documents, identifying scope requirements, and preparing competitive bids.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyse project specifications, drawings, and requirements to determine materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Supplier & Subcontractor Management: Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure accurate costings.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks and incorporate contingency measures into estimates.
  • Value Engineering: Recommend cost-effective alternatives and solutions to maximise project value for clients.
  • Client Communication: Liaise with local council representatives to clarify project requirements, address concerns, and provide technical support during the bidding process.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other internal teams to ensure estimates align with project goals and specifications.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in civil estimating, preferably with a focus on local council or government projects
  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (Required)
  • Personable and can work win a small team
  • Experience pricing work in Australia
  • Drivers License
